BIOGRAPHY
Megan Carter is an intellectual property lawyer and Registered Patent Attorney who focuses her practice on helping businesses protect and leverage existing and potential IP assets worldwide. Ms. Carter has extensive experience in working with a range of businesses from startup companies to global conglomerations. Ms. Carter serves as chief outside counsel to an aerospace research and development firm and a wind energy company. She has experience providing IP services to clients in diverse industries, including:
- Semiconductors
- Garage-door opening and door control systems
- Minerals
- Business machine technologies
- Fracking
- Oil and gas E&P and oilfield services and operations
- Wind turbines, solar panels and other renewable energy technologies
- Autonomous robotic devices
- Aviation
- Hydroelectric technologies and
- Medical devices and healthcare
Prior to attending law school, Megan was pre-med undergrad, while obtaining her Mechanical Engineering degree, and worked as a mechanical engineer for an aircraft design firm. Her roles there included assisting in writing preliminary patents and actively participating in discussions with the firm's patent attorneys. Since then, Megan has strategically built and managed U.S. and foreign patent portfolios, as well as helped with patent litigation matters, due diligence investigations, clearance searches, trademark prosecution, and drafting various agreements, including, licensing agreements, NDAs, confidentiality agreements, field trial agreements, and joint development agreements.
