BIOGRAPHY
Stephen A. Cortiaus works primarily in support of patent preparation and prosecution. Additionally, Stephen provides patent litigation and licensing support, including patent validity and infringement analysis.
Prior to joining Slater & Matsil, Stephen gained engineering experience in designing, developing, deploying, and testing computer hardware and software. At Hewlett-Packard he was a firmware engineer who developed and maintained portions of the lights-out management platform used in standalone and blade servers, gaining experience in real-time operating systems, networking, and digital video technologies.
In addition to his background in firmware and embedded devices, Stephen also has experience in computer software and cloud computing. He has developed and maintained desktop applications for Microsoft Windows and data-driven web applications. Stephen has also designed, tested, and assisted in the manufacture of intrinsically-safe Bluetooth devices used in the oil and gas industry.
EDUCATION
Stephen graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in 2010. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law in 2015.
MEMBERSHIPS
Stephen was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 2015. While studying Electrical Engineering, Stephen was admitted as a member of Tau Beta Pi.
