BIOGRAPHY

Douglas W. Gilmore represents clients in the acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights. Doug has experience with all aspects of patent strategy, from early invention stages to commercialized products, licensing and enforcement. He has advised clients on business initiatives and product launch issues for designing effective workaround solutions where necessary.

As corporate counsel with Motorola, Doug supported intellectual property matters in a variety of technologies for the Semiconductor Processing Sector and Physical Science Research Labs. He also served as representative to the Motorola Corporate Patent Operations Strategy Taskforce.

Doug has a business-oriented focus and the ability to coordinate diverse workgroups to complete complex, deadline-driven projects. He provides counsel and support for invention disclosure and patentability reviews, patent preparation and global prosecution, defensive publication, validity and non-infringement opinions, portfolio management, strategic and competitive analysis, licensing, technology transfer, and related litigation support. Doug also has extensive experience with presentations to executive management, investment bankers, and strategic partners.

Doug's technical background includes: semiconductor design, processing and testing; RF wireless; antenna systems; electronic component packing; digital signal processing; security and encryption; informatics and data analysis; software; business methods; cryptocurrency, distributed ledgers and blockchain technology; chemistry; cosmetics and personal care; material science; and specialty polymers, glass, and ceramics.

EDUCATION

Doug received his B.S. (cum laude) in chemistry from James Madison University in 1994, his Master's in Chemical Physics from the University of Arizona in 1997, and his J.D. (top 10%) from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2000.

MEMBERSHIPS

Doug is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of Arizona. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Arizona, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
