BIOGRAPHY
Roger C. Knapp represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property, including patent portfolio management and all phases of patent preparation and prosecution. His practice also involves providing patent litigation support, assisting with claims analysis, infringement and validity issues, and Markman hearings. Roger also provides opinion letters regarding invalidity and non-infringement studies.
Roger has more than 15 years of engineering experience with several major technology and telecommunications companies. While at Texas Instruments and Alcatel, he was involved in designing and developing telecommunications networks, telecommunications platforms, and providing voice-activated products to service providers. In addition to his background in telecommunications, Roger also has experience in optics, computer architecture, computer hardware and software, electrical and mechanical systems, Internet services and signaling, business methods, and computer networking.
As the holder of a business degree and a former manager, Roger is attuned to the need for a company to maximize the value of its intellectual property portfolio in line with the company’s business goals and priorities. Roger’s clients appreciate the depth of his technical background and the benefits his experience brings to their representation.
EDUCATION
Roger received his B.S. in computer science from the University of Iowa in 1983, his Master's in Business Administration, with highest honors, from the University of Dallas in 1994, and his J.D., cum laude, from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in 2000.
MEMBERSHIPS
Roger is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Dallas Bar Association.
