BIOGRAPHY
Yumin Zhang, Ph. D., has fourteen years of research and development experience in the telecommunications, consumer electronics, semi-conductor, and oil/gas service industry. His research interests include digital signal processing, wireless/wireline/fiber-optical communication, image and video processing, and computer networks. He has worked on various digital communication standards (e.g., 3GPP W-CDMA, IEEE 802.15.4g, ATSC VSB/J83.B/DVB-T, DOCSIS) and has extensive experience with communication system design and implementation, modeling and simulation of complex systems, as well as system performance analysis.
Prior to joining Slater & Matsil, Yumin was a Senior Technical Advisor at Halliburton Energy Services where he defined the system architecture for the company's next-generation Mud Pulse Telemetry tool. During his seven years at Texas Instruments, he worked on various ASIC and software products including DTV demodulator, video encoder, low-power medical device, high-performance multi-core DSP and smart meters. Prior to Texas Instruments, Yumin worked at Sarnoff Corporation where he was the inventor and system architect for Sarnoff's ClearLoc® DTV demodulator. During the early years of his career, he worked as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ, where he worked on 3GPP UMTS systems.
EDUCATION
Yumin obtained a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in 2000. He earned his Master of Science degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997 and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1994.
