Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Slater & Matsil, LLP is seeking a paralegal/legal assistant with at least three years' patent prosecution experience. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with the filing and prosecution of U.S. patent applications, auditing and managing portfolios to ensure patent applications are in compliance through the patent prosecution process, assisting internally in reviewing and analyzing documents, conducting research, monitoring deadlines, drafting responses to office actions, and providing general administrative support to attorneys.

Patent Attorney
This position involves representing foreign/domestic clients in patent prosecution and other legalproceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); preparing legal documents such as national and international patent applications, responses to office actions, and appeal briefs; advising clients on the international aspects of patent law proceedings related to patent infringement, licensing, and prosecution, including offensive and defensive patent licensing programs or activities; conducting legal research, preparing legal memoranda and legal analysis/opinions, infringement analyses, and validity studies regarding the applicability of patent laws and coordinating with foreign counsel regarding legal and technical issues on U.S. patent practice and litigation.
Candidates should have a J.D. degree, plus an technical degree in the electrical, telecommunications, semiconductor, or computer science and engineering, and 2-5 years of patent law experience, including working as patent prosecution/litigation attorney; experience analyzing patent and infringement laws, regulations and procedures; experience in patent licensing, including drafting and negotiating patent licensing agreements; and experience in developing, advising, strategizing and managing patent portfolios. Current membership in good standing of any U.S. state bar and license to practice patent law before U.S. Patent and Trademark Office required.

Technical Specialist/Patent Agent
The position involves working with inventors to understand the technical aspects of the invention, describe the invention in a patent application, analyze patent applications to determine technical distinctions between the patent application and other references, and provide technical support for litigation/licensing teams. Potential candidates should have a MS or Ph.D., preferably in the electrical, telecommunications, semiconductor, or computer science and engineering. We prefer someone with a strong background in telecommunications or semiconductor processing along with excellent communication (writing) skills.
